“Jellybean!”

Jeseræde threw himself at the glowering assassin with a grace that Rowan had always envied, grin almost splitting his face in half. There was a glint in his jade eye that almost made Rowan take a step back.

Almost.

“Remove yourself or I start removing body parts.”

Jeseræde grumbled, unwinding his arms from around Kale’s neck but not moving very far away. It was a favorite pastime of his to annoy the redheaded man until he snapped; it apparently brought him some sort of perverse joy. Not that Rowan minded, she thought it was hilarious.

“You’re always so touchy, my little flower. Tch.”

Kale’s eyebrow started to twitch and his right hand motioned ever so slightly for the sword hanging at his side. He growled low, eyes narrowed as the mage swung his arms back and forth in a childlike manner, absently whistling in a very poor attempt to feign innocence.

“Jeseræde…”

Kale didn’t get much farther than that because with a sudden, fluid movement Jeseræde had launched himself at the assassin, yet again, and promptly stunned him into silence by pressing his lips to Kale’s.

“Night my little firefly!”

Jeseræde cackled madly as his danced down the hall, tendrils of magic beginning to swirl about his back as he anticipated the assassins’ revenge. He would have to simply not sleep for the next few nights.

“Did he just…”

Rowan nodded, wincing at the fury that lit up golden eyes. She almost felt sorry for Jeseræde. Then again, she figured that she really should feel more sorry for Kale.
